So, I’m at the doctor this morning for a follow-up on the Ehrlichiosis, and I told him: “Dude, remember when you told me that my chest pains, etc., are just part of getting older? Well, yoga fixed it.” He said “Well, that makes sense, if it’s muscular-skeletal.” I said “DUDE, WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME TO TRY YOGA? Or stretching.” He laughed, and said that traditional Western medicine doesn’t really approach things like that… that I am welcome to try alternative methods, but that he can’t really guarantee anything.
I said: “Listen: I will sign a release for you which absolves you for any responsibility for the efficacy of any alternative medicine you suggest. Just SUGGEST it. Okay?”
He said: “Okay.” Then he told me that malaria has come to Westchester, NY.
Ugh.

this is exactly why I don't see doctors that practice western medicine much any more.
I have been reading your blog for quite a while and don't know if I have ever left a comment. There is nothing in particular for me to comment on, except to say that if you are half as honorable and thinking a man as you come across in your blog, your family and the world is very lucky!
Yeah, I hate going to the doctor. It's so weird. But I hate more going to the dentist. I am anti-denti :D
That is something I have ALWAYS hated about allopathic (M.D.) versus osteopathic (D.O.) medical practicioners. My D.O. recommended yoga to me a year ago, and my stress level (which is what contributed to the soreness and constantly tense back, neck, and shoulders) vanished amazingly.
(just my 2 cents),

Also, even my psychiatrist is a D.O. -- I actually try to seek out these medical professionals for whatever physical or other health problems I have.
What? Malaria! When, this year? Just what we need here, first it's lyme then ehrichliosis, and now malaria? Jeesh.
