Carter: 1993 - 2005
As I mentioned back in April, my dog Carter was diagnosed with liver cancer. Although he was given three to five weeks to live, he stayed with us for another four and a half months. Yesterday, he took a turn for the worse. He stopped eating and couldn't walk. We put him down a little over an hour ago.
Carter died at home, in his bed. The children all got a chance to say long goodbyes, and Maggie and I were petting his head as he left this world.
Carter was Maggie's constant companion, and the Great Constant of my life.
We'll miss him terribly. In fact, we already do.
Love to all.
Rich

What a wonderful tribute to a great dog, friend and companion. He looks and sounds like he was an incredibly cool dog.
Hang in there guys.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Pets are so hard to lose and you never want them to go. Sounds like your friend didn't want to leave right away either. I am sure he loved you as much as you loved him.
I personally live with nine of my best friends. My nine little furry friends. These cats are my grounding when everything is horrible. They comfort me in time of pain and make me laugh right when I need it. They lick my face when I am down and sleep with me when I am sick. Pets and their unconditional love are an amazing thing.
My thoughts are with you and your family.
I'm sorry for your loss. Losing a pet, particularly after having them deteriorate due to disease, is difficult to say the least.
I think I'll use this as an excuse to hop back in bed and snuggle my own ailing dog.
Hang tough.

It's always so hard to lose a familt member - furry and 4-legged or otherwise.
Please know that you did the right thing, for as much as he didn't want to be in pain he wouldn't have wanted you to be either.
*hugs*
Sorry to hear about your loss dude. I know how much he meant to everybody.
It's wonderful he was so loved, and you have my sympathies at his passing.
So sad. Hold onto those happy memories; let his name bring a smile to your face, and he'll never really be gone.
Hugs to you and yours.
So sorry about your pet. He certainly had a good life with you and you will always have the great memories. Pets are so much part of the family it hurts to lose one.
Losing a pet is very hard. They are part of the family.
Remember, Carter left surrounded by those he loved.
Take care.
I'm sorry for your loss. Take comfort in knowing you gave him a wonderful home and a great life.
i am sorry for your loss but it sounds like he was well loved and had a great life.
