So, the Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has now reiterated (in public) that he believes the Holocaust was a myth.
The truth here is this: how could someone like this be trusted with nuclear technology? Clearly, he isn't rational. Clearly, if he believes the holocaust didn't happen, he could easily believe that developing nuclear weapons is a "peaceful" action, because, in destroying Israel, it would bring great peace to the region.
Does this sound any crazier than saying that the Holocaust never happened?
I am starting to believe that we should go from Iraq to Iran. I'm starting to believe we should have gone from Afghanistan to Iran, and skipped Iraq. But then again, what would that do, really? Ugh. I just don't know...

This is probably one of the worst posts I have seen here. Most likely fueled by personal emotion, I can understand.
Dismissing Holocaust altogether is a shame. The conclusion drawn by you in regards to the nuclear power is not so solid.
If we use the same logic, "The Bush administration lied about the reasons of going to Iraq. Therefore they could have lied about everything else. Therefore, they can't be trusted with nuclear technology, because they might attack Venezuela, to make the world safer from "terrorists"
Based on the track record I believe the United States of America is the most dangerous country on earth to have "nukular" capabilities.
And lastly my brother, what do you mean "WE" should go to Iran? I would like to see you personally lug an M-16 and join the few, the proud, the deceived...
Actually, I believe the Bush Administration HAS done exactly what you said, only without nukes.
If Bush didn't already have command of a nuclear arsenal, would I trust him not to direct the country to develop nuclear weapons? Absolutely not. In fact, I'd say that about Clinton, too... and I'm a big fan. Do *you* think we wouldn't have a clandestine nuclear program, if we weren't yet nuclear capable?
Combine this with the Iranian President's repeated desire to "wipe Israel off of the map," and the point is doubled.
Your "We" comment is surprisingly mean-spirited. When I say "We," I mean "We." Admittedly, there's no draft. I registered when I turned 18, but the draft was never reinstated. But if it came up for a vote, I would asbolutely vote to reinstate the draft. I remember being really proud when I registered... because I believed then, as I do now, that this should be an equal opportunity commitment. While I wasn't going to volunteer for it, I believed then and now that the chance should be equal for us all.
We is *us.* Meaning my country. My fellow citizens. How could you not get that?
My comment is not as mean-spirited as Ahmadinejad's dismissal of Holocaust, nor your call for yet another war.
American, British, and few Albanian mothers (believe it or not) have seen their kids die in Iraq. Wars are sad, and terrible, and the innocents always suffer. If you are going to call for war you should be prepared to act upon it, again "personally" and take on the moral responsibilities that come with it. My comment is nothing compared to those moral responsibilities.
And having a slight clue about the present position of your fellow citizens on war, I would highly doubt it that they stand with you on this issue. This is more Israel's problem than America's problem.
I am going to get out of this debate, by attempting one of your classic endings.

Friend, clearly you didn't fully read my post. Or you didn't understand I didn't call for another war. "But then again, what would that do, really? Ugh. I just don't know..."

I think you're being a bit arrogant. I would bet real money that you don't take action on most of the things you believe in. Besides, who has *time* to actively engage in promoting all of the things they believe in. I don't have the time to lobby for Gay Rights, so I joined the HRC. I can't prosecute violations of civil liberties, so I joined the ACLU. Your saying that if I believe in a military action I must join the military is just silly. And irresponsible.
My main responsibility right now is to raise children who will act responsibly and kindly towards others. This was told to me by my Priest when I asked him how I should best volunteer my time. So I spend time in my community. I coach, I volunteer at Church, I participate in my children's lives.
That's enough for now. In fact, it's what is required of me.

I've enjoyed perusing your site. Your love for your daughter and wife, and the rest of your family of course, is inspiring.
You are what a dad and husband ought to be. If we had a lot more people that honored their wife and children the way you do, there would be alot less divorce and heart ache and troubled children who grow up to add to the already intolerable level of crime.
While I am definately opposite you on the political spectrum, it is refreshing to come across a liberal who can actually express his viewpoints and not come across as some kind of freaky moonbat with serious personal issues.
I think that Iran should not be trusted with nuclear weapons for reasons far more important than the President's propaganda that he "doesn't believe the Holocaust ever happened". Iran is dangerous because they are a nation sympathetic to Islamic terrorists and their world view.
Iran would love to start a new holocaust for Israel. A nuclear holocaust. Plus, Iran hates the U.S. and would most assuredly place nuclear weapons in the hands of al Quaeda if not directly bomb us themselves. Which, coincidently, is what Iraq would most likely have done had we allowed Sadaam to continue lying to the UN while finishing his nuclear program.
As for "its" abusurd comment that the US is the most dangerous country with nuclear weapons, well, yeah, he's right. After all, just look at the thousands of cities throughout the world we have decimated already with our lack of restraint and our penchant to rush to the nuclear option every time.

I think it's completely ridiculous that Liberals and Conservatives have moved from different parts of the political spectrum involved in a fascinating and critical public dialog to insult-slingers a la Jerry Springer's TV show. Although Jerry Springers radio show is actually pretty good.
