Have you left your spouse?

How many people out there have had an argument/situation bad enough that they left their spouse? The duration can be from "overnight" to "forever."

Please feel free to answer anonymously, if that'll help you comment.

Love to all.

5 years and counting.

Only the argument lasted about 10 years before I finally left.

I don't leave my spouses; they leave me.

I have left for a few days - but mostly it was to just clear my head and take a step back to get away from the shit that just kept building up. I made it a "vacation" for my son.
As we have gotten older I think we can feel the tension and have learned to take mini breaks - sometimes they are together just to get away from the monotony and stresses of life.
But when an argument gets really heated I will try to leave the situation because I have a temper and say things I am NOT proud of.

Having no spouse is FUN!
I'm still free.

I left for 2 or 3 nights and when I did get home, he went to therapy and slept in the guest bedroom for a few weeks. He was very lucky that I didn't divorce his ass. We went through therapy and now we have had another child and things seem well. That was almost 5 years ago. He knows how lucky he is, not because I tell him that he is, because I don't. But because we went to a therapist and got all the shit out on the table and talked. I mean really TALKED. Plus, if he ever screws up again, he knows that I won't be the one walking out the door with the kids, it will be him walking out with whatever he can carry. I will not put up with another round of that crap.

Last Anon,

Does leaving the toilet seat up constitute "another round of that crap"?

So, I left my fiancee when we were living together, for a few days so we could clear out our minds. When I came back I found out she had been making out with some random dude at the club. I am so glad I didn't marry that bitch! ;-)

I left my husband for ever. I knew it was forever when I left because I don't think I would have survived had I gone back. I almost didnt survive while I lived with him. It was the best move of my life, for my son and myself.

Left a dictator when I was a teen. We had to get away from him.

Took a mini break (one night) from a boyfriend less than a year into our relationship. I thought I needed a little road trip, truth was I needed to get away from him. It took me 5 years to admit he wasn't the man for me. He wasn't bad, just not right for me.

It came very, very, VERY close! He done me wrong, I insisted he leave, but I also insisted he take his mother with him. He refused, and I refused to let him leave without her.

3 years later, all is well - so 3 bad months out of 15 years, I'll live with that, and consider the marriage a success.
