- I'm officially closing my company and forming a new one with partners. Next week is the last operating week of my firm. Oh. My. God.
- Mimi has fully recovered from her emergency room visit. While they initially detected nothing wrong, it turned out she had eaten a sock. Yeah, you read that right. A SOCK. Did you know that dogs-eating-socks are the #1 reason for emergency room visits by dogs? Neither did I. And frankly, I'm not sure if I believe it.
- Maggie is officially 40. Last night, it was a Catch-22 of husbandhood wherein she was a little irritable and tired and reading... and therefore didn't want to talk to me... but she kept saying "'I'm SO old." And when I tried to soothe her, she said "SHHH!" Alas.
How are you?
Love to all. Even you, the lady who kept speaking to her blackberry about how it functioned.

How am I?
Well, I don't run marathons. I have my usual chaotic life. As a church musician finishing a unit of chaplaincy training after finally being divorced with 2 kids and 5 days before Christmas, and no shopping done or groceries in the house...it sort of feels like I've hit the wall...When's that happen? Mile 18?
Just taking care of whatever is next in line and hoping that if it really needs to get done it will stay in line.
But that's probably not what you really asked.
Peace.
Congrats on #1-3.
Actually, becky, that's EXACTLY what I asked.
:-)
I'm good, considering I feel very comfortable that your crush is not me.*
The kids are making me crazy, but the job is not. I'm not making any major life changes in the next week, which means I can sit back and pray/express my concern and support for you.
Best of luck to you and all of your employees. Their new bosses will never be as cool as you. I feel sure they won't iChat with them from in the same room.
Best of luck.
* Not that there's anything wrong with that...
One day at a time Road Warrior.
Happy Birthday Maggie... I'm next!
Good luck in your new venture, I am sure you will do well.
Merry Christmas
Jeremy
In my house, it's the eating of shoes. Usually, expensive shoes. One of my dogs has a penchant for Birkenstocks. Once, he shat an entire buckle. Usually, he just pukes up large pieces of straps and leather.
Good luck on your new (ad)venture!
And Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Nice update, glad the whole family is doing well. The 40 is a big change. Just like 20, 25, 30, etc. For me, turning 25 next May.. It's a quarter of a century!!!! What have I done in this quarter of a century?!?! It's scary. So I can only imagine 40. Anyways...
As to how I am... Alright I guess. I'm enjoying my cold tiny hometown and trying to make the best of this Christmas holiday!

Vinny - good to hear. I wrote a kind of long response to your post on the GGW thing... but I couldn't get it to read right. I'll try again, maybe.
Jeremy: Congrats! 40, too?
Viki: I like "shat a belt buckle" as a phrase. Merry merry right back atcha.
Rich,
When I first read this post, I was thinking that Mimi and the emergency room thing was about your 22yo employee. Which made the thing about eating a sock seem really peculiar. Then I remembered your post about your dog and the 24hr vet... and it seemed a lot more normal.

I am doing super, thank you for asking.
Have a terrific New Year and a Merry Christmas, not necessarily in that order.
That is the craziest thing about your dog eating a sock.
I was laughing about your night with Maggie - that is how it has been at our house. My husband cannot get it right and I am as awnry as ever. Here's what I wish my husband would do...
Buy me flowers or something really thoughtful (that he cannot figure out a way to use as well - no more iPods) or the best thing would be to just give me a genuine compliment (which he is soo not goo at, he actually told me I looked old and thought it was a compliment).
I am awnry because... sick kids, broken dryer, dental bill, doctor bills, etc. It is just one of those times where you wonder why Karma has decided to kick your ass.
But as I keep repeating... this too shall pass.
It really isn't as bad as it seems - just Karma kicking my ass.
Merry Christmas!!!
:o
Glad Mimi came back in one piece and happy. Socks are the #1 emergency? Good GRIEF I didn't know that lol
PS Please wish Maggie happy bday for me.... I am quite looking forward to mine in 6 years!
Hope your new venture goes well!
It's honestly kind of funny that you mentioned the little crush on the friend right after talking about how upset Maggie is about being old (and consequently possibly not being as crush-worthy as she used to be). You silly old man.
Not the creature: actually, the friend in question is significantly older than Maggie. Ha. Besides, my crushes don't last.
