Floodette.
There's water coming through every seam in the basement flooring. It's a floating floor, which means, well, it means there's a very shallow lake down here.
The school district that employs me was closed today, but the local district was open. My van broke down yesterday, so we were lucky in that we only needed one car today.
Unfortunately, it took me 1 1/2 hours to take wife to her office, and 1 hour back. There goes most of the day. Have to leave to pick her up again in 2 hours.
Just got ours completely pumped out yesterday. Saying goodbye to all the books and cardboard boxes that were down there. Yes, that was a lot of rain (though I'm a bit jaded after having seen 18 inches of rain fall in 24 hours, while living in Hawaii :P).

Yikes indeed!
Ewwww. Ya know, maybe I can get on board with this whole "no basements in Floriday" thing.
Dude, no excuse for not showing up this morning. Next thing you're going to tell me the trains weren't running and the kids are off from school :-)
You know, I got to know someone else from your city and he just tol dme all about this....
Ach, good luck with the flooding, Rich :o

Oh well.
Good luck! Our basement flooded last year on Thanksgiving Day. We found out right as we were about to leave for my in-laws for the day. What a pain!
Hope the rain stops soon and you get everything taken care of.
I'm a puddle braker...
Oooooh! Good luck. Hope you can swim!
Dang it! I wish I could be of help. Our basement flooded horribly two years ago. I know how tiresome it can be cleaning up the mess.
Hang in there!
dang! wet basements are no fun. Hope that's as bad as it gets.

Hope you're drier now as well!
I feel for you!
but hey, if it makes you feel better, there's no global warming...
