What do you do when the bigger company that, ostensibly, had the resources to fund a new division suddenly says "We're not sure about meeting staff payroll in three weeks?"
What do you do when it turns out the "absolutely nonegotiable" requirement for you to discard four years worth of concerted branding efforts turns out to have been absolutely negotiable after all, and actually preferred by the partners who never mentioned it until today, when it was too late?
What do you do when you think you might have made a HUGE fucking mistake?
I have no answers to these questions. None at all.
Love to all. Even you, the dude who exaggerated a little.

Oh. My. Word. What do you do? I am sorry you're stuck in the middle of this.
I think all you can do is try to stay as calm as possible and figure out what options and recourse you have.
And, if it turns out to have been a mistake, try to learn as much as you can from the situation and move on.
Dude, that absolutely sucks. I guess all you can do is try and ride it out, and hope that karma comes around to bite your lamer partners in the ass.
Hugs!
Thanks, dudes. The weird thing is that it could turn out okay, or it could not. The challenge is, if this issue could even be RAISED, should I get the hell out NOW?
Yeesh.c
Ugh.
I think it depends on whether they MEANT for the misunderstanding to happen.
If yes, then I would cut and run. If not, I would learn, hire mediators/lawyers and figure out how to handle it legally from here.
At the very least, protect yourself - and your family.
Here's hoping that they approach you with an apology - and better communication.
Holy Shit!
I have no idea what to tell ya.
'cept...You Rock! You can do it! =)
Uh oh!
I have nothing intelligent to add, as I don't know jack about business. You have my best thoughts, but advice? You don't need mine. You need the advice of a good lawyer, methinks.
Oh dear.
Director/Management level "politics"... okie, it happens sometimes and legal advice, yes, might be an option.
But what I find terribly scary is the "cannot make payroll" bit. Dude, employees are everything. That is SO not right.
I really hope it works out, Rich.
